I think that when trying to recover from any form of an eating disorder, this is the healthiest way to focus on “control”. We’re going from one form of disordered eating, to a recovery process that makes us panic, feel out of control, and we’re often learning to compensate for our previous disordered eating.
So for me, I know I need to relearn portions, because I bounce wildly between serious bingeing and the serious restriction. Which leave me with no sense of what a healthy portion for me is. And that’s a scary feeling!
Take it little by little. If you need another portion of something (ideally healthy, but indulgences are healthy too!) to be satisfied, then that’s okay. You’re okay, and you’re going to be okay. I think we just need to try to remember that sometimes.
